Prestigious International Awards Program Recognizes Outstanding Educational Technology Products and Companies

GREENVILLE, Texas – June 8, 2023 – Sphero, the leader in programmable robots, EdTech, computer science, and STEM education tools, today announced that the Sphero Blueprint Build Kit has been named “Best Engineering Learning Solution” in the 5th annual EdTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by EdTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies and solutions in the global educational technology market.

Sphero’s Blueprint Build Kit is a modular system of easy-to-handle mechanical engineering parts designed to teach middle and high school students diverse, scalable, and creative engineering and robotics concepts. Blueprint Build’s practical mechanical parts allow students to quickly design, build, and test mechanical and structural engineering concepts in the classroom. Students explore cross-curricular concepts in engineering and design with the Blueprint Build Kit, while learning critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

The Blueprint Build Kit is unique in its ability to quickly prototype whatever a student can imagine. The Blueprint snap system and modular parts were intentionally designed to allow for quicker assembly and disassembly due to their practical size and visual and technical simplicity.

“Solving problems is the foundation of engineering, and up until now, there hasn’t been an easy-to-implement, approachable engineering kit for students which has created a barrier to learn engineering concepts. And teachers have been looking for a solution to teach these valuable and important concepts in a variety of ways,” said James Johnson, managing director, EdTech Breakthrough.

“The Blueprint collection offers an approachable kit that provides enough components to build a variety of complex inventions, paving the way for more students to feel confident in learning engineering. We’re thrilled to recognize the breakthrough Sphero Blueprint Build Kit with our ‘Best Engineering Learning Solution’ award in 2023.”

The mission of the EdTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work, and success in a range of educational technology categories, including Student Engagement, School Administration, Adaptive Learning, STEM Education, Remote Learning, Career Preparation, and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 2,400 nominations from over 16 different countries throughout the world.

“We start our product development process by asking educators what they are teaching and what tools they need to support the curriculum in the classroom to engage their students. Throughout development, we work hand-in-hand with educators and students to test our products to see how it fits their needs. This award from EdTech Breakthrough shows that this approach is working and we’re excited about the future,” said Paul Copioli, CEO, Sphero.

“We designed the Blueprint product line to provide an engineering-focused solution for educators with limited time in the classroom. Blueprint is an integral part of our overall product vision. The Build Kit is just the first offering with more to come that will expand to a full engineering-focused collection including options to power inventions for even more learning possibilities.”

Sphero Blueprint Build Kits also aid in teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in high schools. The Blueprint Build Class Pack also includes an in-depth standards-aligned Educator Guide with units and lessons that will help students utilize and develop skills across multiple disciplines by working through open-ended engineering design problems. All lessons and units are aligned to NGSS and STEL standards. Additionally, The Blueprints Build Class Pack supports various CAD certification curricula with free Blueprint OnShape documents, as well as Solidworks and STEP files for CAD software support.

Using Blueprint Build Kits alongside the engineering design process provides for rich and meaningful standards alignment in STEM and engineering classes and beyond.
